The Arts Council is moving to 423 W.Elkhorn Ave. in Estes Park, CO
New Facility Opens June 1, 2008
The Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park, Inc. has the vision and passion to operate a multi-disciplinary arts facility for the cultural enhancement of all persons through making the arts accessible to everyone. And starting June 1 our dream for a larger home becomes reality!
Our mission is to "enhance the quality and accessibility of visual and performing arts for people of all ages" and with this new "home" we will present visual, literary and performing arts in a spacious new building adjacent to Performance Park on the west end of downtown Estes Park, Colorado. Working together with our local community and town government; other Colorado art agencies and area non-profit arts organization, this facility can also be utilized to launch other arts campaigns, including the proposed theater in Stanley Park. It can also act as a catalyst for west end economic development.
Overview:
The facility will present all forms of visual arts with opportunities to showcase other arts disciplines, and will present this programming year round. Programming will include premiere art exhibitions and events, museum and private collections, and will provide an intimate venue for recitals, ensembles, concerts, film, social events, and arts education.
Art exhibitions will feature works by past and present artists of international renown and origin. In addition, our exhibition series will focus on providing exhibition opportunities for regional, state and local artists and; will showcase the accomplishments of talented young people through district art shows and recitals.
Throughout the year a diverse arts education curriculum will include opportunities for all ages, [especially children], through master workshops and classes held in our site or as the need arises, in other partnering locations.
The Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park, Inc. for the last 17 years has been working to enhance the arts experience for everyone living in or visiting to Estes Park, Colorado.
Our current facility at 304 E. Elkhorn Ave., on the Estes Park Riverwalk has presented successful arts and cultural programming for the last 9 years. In our 17 year history we have presented on average 14 major programs annually including the national tour ARTS for the PARKS, and loans from the CU Art Galleries at Boulder, CO, A.R. Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, CO and private collections along with the wonderful and popular Estes Park Plein Air – Painting the Parks and Pike Peak Plein Air Painters shows. It will also provide a much larger space to show our annual Park School District K-12 student art show, Student Expressions which will celebrate its 12th Annual year in 2009. We have utilized many available facilities throughout the valley for fine art and performing arts, and recognize that we could present better programming with prime exposure in downtown Estes Park.
Support:
A Building Fund was established in 2004, and part of the funds are being put use in the renovation of and relocation to the new space (now underway). Estimated renovation costs are $8,000 - $10,000. We hope to find donations and use volunteers to cut these expenses, but some professional services (by law) must performed by licensed contractors, and building permits are required. Our new facility will increase our basic operating costs as well.
Renovation expenses include new track lighting systems, flooring (hard & carpet surfaces), paint, drywall, doors, chandelier and wall sconce lighting, storage shelving, work room counters, new signage, and bathroom upgrades. In addition, we are also looking to acquire a baby grand piano, music stands, new 8 ft. table, comfortable folding chairs and covers, new reception desk and chair, and other computer/media equipment. Donations of the items listed above or cash contributions made to our Operating or Building Fund are welcome to help us make the new facility "a proper new home" for the arts. All cash contributions, goods or and inkind donations are tax-deductible within the law. All contributors will be recognized in a gala opening event and throughout the years.
Volunteers:
Inkind contributors are essential to the success of this campaign. Donating your services or professional skills including contract labor (such as electrical, flooring, painting, carpentry, cleaning), or volunteer exhibit preparation, computer and gallery staffing are also welcomed. On-going volunteers such as board service, gallery staffing, fundraising or event staff as always needed. All inkind support is used in grant preparation.
