Imagine This!
On Saturday February 13 join the arts community of Estes Park for an all-day program that provides arts experiences which are both fun and educational and are designed to teach young people an appreciation for the arts. Children can visit various booths taking away both hand made treasures or fabulous learning experiences. Live all day musical entertainment will be provided. A Silent Bid Auction with high quality artwork and merchandise donated by local merchants will also be on-going, and proceeds from the sale will benefit educational programs of the Cultural Arts Council in 2010.
The 18th annual Imagine This! includes a potpourri of creative experiences at the single largest indoor arts extravaganza in Estes Park each year. Although geared primarily for children, audiences of all ages can enjoy the day's offerings, which include visual art, music, dance, and much more. A program with a festival layout will be provided, including booths, auction items listed, and a schedule of performances.
Hands-on activities, just to name a few include: Musical instruments stringed and percussion, face painting, drawing, painting, nature crafts, re-cycled art project, Fish Pond and the Secret Studio (a place for kids to make a work of art as a gift). Musical performances include American folk music, Dixieland style jazz and other cultures.
"At the time Imagine This! was created, there was no event of its kind in the Estes Valley. Local arts organizations came together at the High School for a meeting, and the concept was born. Imagine This! has captured the hearts and minds of young people from our own community to the front range and beyond.", explains CAC director Lynda Vogel, adding, "This year's theme, Exploring A World of Art, captures the excitement and joy of creativity from many cultures by seeing it, doing it and being it. For those of us who have been involved in the event for over 17 years, it never ceases to amaze us how much children love to create and experience the arts. You do not have to be a child to participate. Adults as well as children can experience the arts and all of the wonderful offerings individual artists, musicians and local non-profit groups share with the public at Imagine This!".
Lunch and snacks will be available to support a local charity throughout the day.
