For over eleven years, the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park has produced a national plein air event in Colorado. We invite patrons and artists from across the globe to participate in this year's festival. The Northern Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park are one of the most spectacular places on earth, and we invite you to come visit us and see this slice of heaven first-hand.
Beauty and inspiration go hand-in-hand when artists arrive in the Colorado Rockies to paint on-location from August 11 through 23, 2012. Plein Air Rockies 2012 is a festival of outdoor painting celebrating the inspiration from subjects like Rocky Mountain National Park, forests, river canyons, scenic highways, and/or people and places in Estes Park. This event has garnered national attention, and opening day is the place to be if you are a savvy collector of fine art. Plein Air Rockies also has numerous events geared for audiences of all ages.
Starting with the annual "Prelude Show" in the CAC Fine Art Gallery on August 4, patrons can enjoy a preview of works by the Plein Air Rockies participating artists, while they are out in the field. Once the painting period ends Thursday August 23, the exhibition and sale of the new works is held August 25 through September 30, at the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park Fine Art Gallery in Estes Park, CO. In addition, the 2012 festival includes many other events including, a nocturne paint out, a children's paint out, miniature show, Scottish-Irish Festival Paint Out, Fall paint out event and more.
"This festival always features many of the outstanding national artists placing Estes Park as a premier arts destination", states Lynda Vogel, CAC executive director. "As with many of the fine arts events the CAC produces, our patrons anxiously await Opening Day. The Quick Draw and Auction should not be missed by those who have a passion for fine art. The glory and the majesty of Northern Colorado is forever captured on canvas, paper and board". Come to paint, come to learn, come to share, and come to experience.............................
For first time artists it is an exhilarating experience. For others it is a chance to meet up with colleagues or to paint familiar vistas. The community of Estes Park is a proud host of this event, and all efforts are made to make each artist's stay a rewarding one.
The deadlines for entries is March 31, 2012. For more information, call the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park at 970-586-9203, E-Mail: info@estesarts.com.
