14th Annual Student Expressions 2011
April 9 - 23, 2011
This annual student art show celebrates the creative spirit of young artists in the Park Schools Grades K through 12. District art teachers Valerie Bowles (elementary school), Nicole Rische (middle school) and Mary Nelson (high school) assembled this special collection representing 2 and 3-dimensional visual art works throughout the school year.
Over 200 works of art in 2 and 2 dimension and media will be on display at the CAC Fine Art Gallery located at 423 W. Elkhorn Ave. It is among the many exhibitions slated each year celebrating the visual arts.
Opening day Student Expressions activities will begin at 12:00 noon with cookies and the awards ribbons on the student's work. It is an honor to be selected into the annual arts show, and selection is done by Park District art teachers.
“The Cultural Arts Council’s mission is to enhance the quality and accessibility of visual and performing arts for people of all ages," states CAC director Lynda Vogel. “Hosting the annual district art show not only shares the accomplishments of our area youth with residents and visitors, but spotlights the excellent art education curriculum that is presented in Estes Park schools by its gifted faculty. Student Expressions is one of our crown jewels, and we are very proud to sponsor it each year”.

Awards Judge
Colorado artist Dennis Reinke will serve as the 2011 Awards Judge. Reinke will select the awards from approx. 200 works of art created by 200 students. Awards are chosen within each the three schools, in 2 and 3-dimensional categories. Over all awards including Best of Show, CAC Director's Choice and People's Choice awards are chosen from all schools grades K through 12. Award winners are noted at the show will a special card and ribbon. All winners receive a certificate of accomplishment. The current year winners will be posted on this page as soon as they are decided.
About the Judge
Dennis Reinke has always studied art along with his technical career and carried the technical discipline into the art process. He developed his abilities in perspective drawing to a point where it became automatic. His sculpture was a result of looking at detail in every form. What he learned from his studies of color theory was tested in paintings. Spiritual freedom, however, brings freedom in life, and that freedom opened up the whole world of exploration for Dennis. He paints now because he loves the challenge, sense of discovery and sharing the joy of the experience. He relives the memory and appreciation for the moment when he first experienced the beauty of the subject he is painting. The beauty of nature, the feeling, the joy and the atmosphere want to be expressed beyond the realism. Dennis creates the illusion of space, distance with a quick expressionistic brushstroke. Dennis and his wife Nancy reside in Estes Park, CO. The Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park is grateful to have him as the 2011 Student Expressions Awards Judge.
