The Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park extended an invitation to area
artists to participate in a special exhibition, "First Show - A Collection
of Community Art". The exhibition is the first in a series of special
events planned to celebrate the CAC's 20th Anniversary serving Estes Park
and its visitor population.
First Show features the art of 26 residents from the greater Estes Valley,
and several students from Eagle Rock School. All of these artists are
displaying their work for the 'first time' in the CAC's new facility in
West Park Center.
Artists at various levels of achievement were encouraged to share their
talents, including those which are emerging on our art scene to others at
the professional level. "First Show" features 2D and 3D arts or crafts
mediums/techniques such as painting, photography, bronze sculpture,
woodworking, stained glass, jewelry, pencil, pastel, woodcarving and mixed
media. A variety of subjects and styles are spotlighted, and "First Show"
will be on display at the CAC's gallery through February 7, 2010.
"Our goal is to launch the 20th year by encouraging artists who have not
exhibited their work at the CAC Fine Art Gallery", explains CAC
director/curator Lynda Vogel adding, "at the same time there are many
accomplished artists we have not yet had the pleasure to spotlight. We
wanted to showcase the wide range of artistic talent, and start the new year
with great enthusiasm for the visual arts."
The Public is Invited
"First Show" opens with a public reception on January 15, 2010. The
Opening Reception starts at 5:00 PM and runs through 8:00 PM.
Refreshments will be served and the artists will be present. Attendees can
enjoy live music performed by Cynthia Hoyle on the CAC 1930 Baldwin grand
piano.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 12 noon to
5 PM daily. For more information call the Cultural Arts Council of Estes
Park at 970-586-9203 or e-mail: info@estesarts.com.
In 2010, the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park celebrates 20 years as a
501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the greater Estes Valley. A
portion of all proceeds from art sales in the gallery go back into visual
and performing arts programs that benefit persons of all ages.
